My Story
I was held against my will for almost five years in the Troubled Teen Industry as a teenager. After finally escaping a month shy of my 19th birthday, I would spend years in silence too afraid to come forward about what I witnessed and experienced in these programs due to the stigma surrounding mental health care and the overall lack of public awareness.
In 2020, Paris Hilton released her documentary "This Is Paris" where she detailed her harrowing experience as a teenager in a residential treatment center in Utah. Inspired by her bravery, thousands of survivors around the world took to social media to share their own stories of neglect, mistreatment, and abuse in the "Troubled Teen Industry" effectively pulling back the curtain on a billion dollar industry that has long operated with a shroud of mystery.
I was one of those survivors.
I am honored to support the incredible team of survivors at Unsilenced who fight tirelessly to end institutionalized child abuse and support survivors in their push for accountability and change. Today, and everyday, Midslumber Products stands with survivors.
